Zengo – Kempenski residence & suites – Restaurant – Review

Zengo - Kempinski Residences & Suites Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

At the top of the tallest building in Qatar lies an authentic Asian restaurant. The restaurant is designed to be modern but classic at the same time, from when you enter you know you’re in for a treat!

This place can be easily ranked as one of my favorites here in Doha, I’ve been here twice for my birthday dinner and to try out their express lunch. Both times I wasn’t disappointed, the food is full of spices and aromas that for sure leave a statement on you.

Let us rewind for a minute and speak about the overall ambiance of the place. Zengo is very unique in terms of it is features and design, it has a very vibrant interior; the entire floor and ceiling are covered in timber with black chairs and tables to match. The entire place is surrounded by panoramic views of Doha’s skyline which add a picturesque feel to the whole experience.

The food never disappointed as I mentioned earlier, what I love most about Zengo is that although it offers authentic Asian food there is a lot of twists and changes made on classical recipes which if you know anything about me, you would know how much I love a good twist on a classic!

All the dishes I tried in both lunch and dinner were infused with flavor that leaves your taste bud tingling. Moreover, this restaurant has vast options to choose from, the menu ranges from sushi, sashimi and hand-crafted dim sum to curry dishes, grilled entrees, and wok dishes.

A bit of a recommendation though if you don’t drink (Happy hour starts at 5pm) and you are going solely for the view I do recommend you go in the morning. On my birthday we went at night and it was lovely the view was still spectacular however it was quite dark and loud (because it was Thursday night) and so communicating with people is quite hard and taking good pictures is quite hard specifically of food!

Here is a sample of what went on that night:

This was my express lunch: Everything I ordered was good, my favorite was the BBQ ribs and the shrimp rolls. Moreover, don’t miss out on the coconut mango sticky rice – simply delicious!

Overall the experience was lovely definitely going to give them another visit! In terms of the prices, they are average if you are ordering a la carte, however, the express lunch is for only 95 Qr (only offered in weekdays) which is a bargain for all that food!

An important notice: They offer a private area ( Zengo lounge area) for parties if you want to celebrate your birthday anytime soon I think you should give them a call.

I rate them a 4.5/5 – the only reason I didn’t give them a 5/5, is because of the lighting at night I think they should invest in some more lights at night as it is very dark.

Until next time, crave the dish…
