Sumo Sushi & Bento

Following my blog on sushi cake( Fine Art made easy – Sushi Cake ), I visited a newly opened sushi restaurant called Sumo sushi & Bento, located in Festival City Mall. Trying a newly opened restaurant is always an adventure as you don’t know what to expect. nonetheless, my experience in this sushi restaurant was exceptional.

The greenery on the walls and the wood used to create a nice calm and welcoming environment definitely goes to my liking. The staff are extremely polite, attentive and unlike other restaurants, when asked about what they recommend they give their honest opinions about different dishes.

The options on the menu were varied, to the point where I struggled to decide on what sushi dish I should try. I ended up ordering 4 plates of sushi that tasted incredible. This sushi place also offers a wide variety of veggi options.

1st plate:

Emperor’s New Roll – Prawn tempura, avocado, cucumber, brown rice and crab stick drizzled with sweet chili sauce. (was recommended by a staff member)

2nd plate:

Crispy Cream Roll – Crabstick, tobiko, tempura, cucumber, avocado and cream cheese rolled together then covered in a tempura batter and deep fried.

3rd plate:

Veggi option – Veggi Roll – Inside-out roll with sweet sushi rice, fresh cucumber, avocado, and lettuce rolled lightly in sesame seeds

4th plate:

Anaconda – Crabstick, cucumber, tamago and salmon rolled together and topped with spicy mayo, fried salmon skin and tobiko, all drizzled lightly with Sumo’s own teriyaki sauce

As there was a huge selection of sushi on the menu and the food was delicious I gave them a second visit. In my 2nd visit, I tried two new plates of sushi.
